Superman Star Henry Cavill 'Not Just Acting For Art, The Money Is Fantastic'

Henry Cavill has admitted that he’s not just acting ‘for the art’… in a taboo-breaking moment, he admitted that he actually rather enjoys the money too.

The 32-year-old British actor, who was born in Jersey, and has clearly struck gold playing the new Superman for Warner Bros explained his motivation in a refreshingly honest interview with Man of the World magazine.

“I’m slightly wary of saying this,” he said, saying it anyway, “because it can be frowned upon, certainly by members of my community and people outside my community… but I’m not just doing this for the art.

“The money’s fantastic and that’s something which I deem - and again, it is frowned upon - very important.

“You’ve got to enjoy life! I mean, you’ve got to. When I’m making money I’m spending it on nice stuff, whether that be lavish holidays for me and my friends or just seeing something and going in a shop and saying, ‘Yeah, I want that for the house,’ and buying it.”

He stressed also that he’s not just spending his huge pay cheques on himself.

“Spending money on my friends, buying dinner for everyone, drinks for everyone, it’s a nice place to be, and I like people to feel cared for,” he added.

“People will be calling me a c**k as they’re reading this, but travel’s great as long as you’re going first class. I mean, traveling to New Zealand in economy, it sucks. Especially if you’re over six feet.

“But first class? I’m not going to ever pretend to be coy about that. I love it.”

And there it is. Actors may well conspicuously display their abundant wealth, but rarely do they actually speak about it.

Cavill was a jobbing star in movies like 'Stardust’ and Woody Allen’s 'Whatever Works’, before landing the lead in swords and sandals fantasy 'Immortals’.

He then landed the role as the new Superman in Zack Snyder’s 'Man of Steel’ in 2013.

Its sequel, the hotly-anticipated 'Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’, is out March 25.
