Superman Had A Depressingly Low Amount Of Lines In Batman V Superman

While Ben Affleck’s performance as Batman in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ was praised as one of the few positive aspects of the blockbuster, like with ‘Man Of Steel’ Henry Cavill’s Superman has been getting some rough treatment.

Which is hardly surprising considering the lack of dialogue and lines that the English actor had to contend with in the film as both Superman and Clark Kent.

In fact, Reddit’s coolerthanabagofice has taken to the website to reveal that Krypton’s most famous son only had a grand total of 43 lines of dialogue in ‘Batman V Superman’, which goes some way to explaining why fans have been unable to resonate with Cavill’s incarnation of the character.

That and the fact that Zack Snyder’s version of Superman seems to have quite a penchant for destroying skyscrapers while scraping with the likes of General Zod and Doomsday.

coolerthanabagofice’s findings also revealed that the most amount of lines that Henry Cavil’s Superman has in one sequence is five, which comes when he is introduced to Bruce Wayne at Lex Luthor’s fancy soiree.

One of Superman’s lines that has rather generously been counted is the character’s huge scream at the end of the film, while there are several scenes where he appears and then doesn’t say anything at all.

In comparison to Henry Cavill’s feeble amount of lines, his fellow titular star Ben Affleck practically couldn’t stop jabbering on in the film. Which probably goes some way to explaining why his incarnation has been roundly praised, despite the mostly negative reviews for ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’.

Maybe most of Cavill’s lines were left out after the original four-hour cut of the film was sliced down to the final running time of 2 hours and 31 minutes.

Fingers crossed we’ll get to see what was left out when ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ is finally released on DVD and Blue-ray later this year.
