Marvel fan-favorite Loki, the trickster god of Norse mythology, has arrived on Disney+. The Loki miniseries premiered June 9, taking the baton from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which hit the service in March 2021.

The six-episode series will drop a new episode every Wednesday until July 14.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki both capitalize on the small-screen success of WandaVision, a reality-bending metadrama that deals with the trauma and grief wrought by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame (which grossed $2.8 billion in 2019).

Where to stream the Loki series online

You can stream the Loki spinoff, the Avengers films, and everything else Disney+ has to offer wherever you’re connected to the internet. Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming service is available in Australia, Austria, Canada, the Channel Islands, France, Germany, India, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Italy, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.

Disney+ is supported on desktop browsers, a wide range of mobile devices, smart TVs, and game consoles. The platform will serve as the new home for Walt Disney Studios films as well as original, exclusive Disney+ content like Lucasfilm’s new Star Wars series—including The Mandalorian and the final season of The Clone Wars—and a full slate of live-action Marvel shows.

What is the new Loki series about?

Loki’s a god of many faces. When we last saw Thor and Loki together in Ragnarok and Infinity War (one picking up right where the other left off), the brothers had made peace with their differences, found a common purpose, and were then torn suddenly apart. The third mainline Avengers film opened with Thanos strangling Loki to death while Thor, bound and gagged, watched in horror.

Then the Ant-Man sequel and Endgame introduced the Quantum Realm and time travel; Far from Home and WandaVision planted the seeds of a chaotic “multiverse,” opening up new possibilities. And a second Loki—in Endgame’s middle act—fled into a new, unestablished timeline when he snatched up the cube-shaped Tesseract, which contains the Infinity Stone that grants control over space.

According to Variety, Loki will reportedly feature the trickster “popping up at different times in human history and influencing major events.” In an officially released still from the series, Loki appears to be running for political office. (During the 2016 presidential election, Marvel published a satirical four-issue series titled Vote Loki.) Let’s hope this show’s half as fun as WandaVision.
