Stranger Things season 4 will end with 2 supersized episodes
If you've been paying attention to EW's recent coverage of Stranger Things, then you already know the Netflix show's upcoming fourth season is going to be split in two. But now Netflix has announced a new detail: The second part of Stranger Things season 4 is going to consist of two supersized episodes.
The season is made up of nine total episodes, split into two "volumes." The first volume, featuring the first seven episodes of the season, will hit Netflix on May 27. The final two episodes will follow on July 1, just in time for the holiday weekend.
Netflix The cast of 'Stranger Things' in season 4
Although the three previous seasons of Stranger Things have consistently involved eight or nine episodes, Netflix promises that season 4 is "over five hours longer than any previous season," which means a lot of content is going to be packed into those final two episodes.

Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer recently compared season 4 to Game of Thrones, and though that seemed to primarily refer to the heightened stakes and darkness of this next chapter, the extra-length episodes evoke the longer installments of the HBO fantasy series' final season, such as "The Long Night."
And that's not all. Netflix has also released the first eight minutes of footage from the Stranger Things season 4 premiere, which you can watch above.
