Storms with hail, strong wind possible in North Texas on Thursday, Friday

Thunderstorms and some severe weather are possible in North Texas on Thursday and Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

Residents could see some drizzle and light rain Thursday morning and there is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to NWS meteorologist Sarah Barnes.

The chance of severe weather is low for the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Thursday, Barnes said. If severe storms do develop, they will likely be north of the Metroplex.

The greatest threat from those storms would be hail, according to Barnes.

The greatest chance for severe weather is Friday morning and afternoon, when a cold front moves through the area. Barnes said the most likely threat from those storms would be strong wind.

There will be a chance of storms Friday, March 31, 2023, across mainly the eastern part of the North Texas forecast area. Fire danger will be elevated across the west Friday afternoon due to dry and windy weather.

The chance of rain on Friday is 60%, according to the National Weather Service. Friday evening is expected to be clear with a low temperature of around 51.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible again on Sunday, according to the weather service.
