The special edition Monte Carlo has only 18 miles on the clock when it was stolen.

An extremely low mileage 2002 Dale Earnhardt Intimidator Edition Chevy Monte Carlo was recovered in a Kentucky town earlier this week after the Boyd County sheriff’s office was made aware of the location of the car. It’s unclear how long the car was missing, or what condition it was recovered in, but it was returned to its owner, a happy ending we’re happy to report, since these stories rarely end in that way.

Sunday, September 19th, two Boyd County Deputies coordinated on the investigation of a car reported located in a nearby location. When they got on the scene, it was indeed the missing 18 mile special edition Chevy Monte Carlo. A tow truck assisted in the recovery of the vehicle, and it was initially taken to a local tow yard.

Only a day later, the rightful owner would get their Intimidator Edition Chevy Monte Carlo back. The sheriff’s office did share that warrants would be issued soon, so it seems like they have the bad guy(s) on the radar, while understandably not wanting to share any names in the meantime.

The Dale Earnhardt Intimidator Edition Chevy Monte Carlo was designed to honor NASCAR’s most popular driver of all time, and has become a highly sought after car over the years. An example like the one stolen sold on Bring a Trailer for $31k last year, with prices expected to increase. You can sometimes find them in our inventory, but you’ve got to be quick, we’ll leave the link here so the crooks can buy their own next time.
