'Stick to professional duty': Rijiju to Taapsee's boyfriend

As the Income Tax department found evidence of cash receipts in the tune of Rs 5 crore by an actress Taapsee Pannu in a raid, her boyfriend and badminton coach - Mathias Boe - pleaded to Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju to intervene.

"Finding myself in a bit of turmoil. Representing India for the first time as a coach for some great athletes, meanwhile the I-T department is raiding Taapsee’s houses back home, putting unnecessary stress on her family, especially her parents," he wrote in a tweet.

Rijiju came up with a befitting riposte to this rather bizarre plea.

"Law of the land is supreme and we must abide by that. The subject matter is beyond yours and my domain. We must stick to our professional duties in the best interest of Indian Sports."

A section of ideologically driven netizens are claiming that investigations by the I-T department against filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and Pannu amounts to vendetta by the Narendra Modi government.

However, these claims do not seem to hold water as Kashyap has earlier too, in 2013, been charged with alleged tax evasion when the Congress-led UPA was in power and the I-T sleuths say they have evidence against those raided for tax malpractice.
