First 'Steve Jobs' Teaser Reveals Michael Fassbender as the Apple Genius

Here's your first official look at Steve Jobs, the Danny Boyle-directed biopic of the late Apple co-founder.

The short trailer, which you can watch above, teases X-Men and Slow West star Michael Fassbender as the mercurial computer magnate, standing before an empty auditorium as he prepares for a demonstration that he promises will be one of the two most significant events of the 20th century.

Obviously, the film — written by Aaron Sorkin and based loosely on the best-selling biography by Walter Isaacson — will not be depicting its subject as a humble man.

“The musicians play the instruments,” he says. “I play the orchestra.”

The teaser, though just over a minute, also offers a look at Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak and Kate Winslet as Joanna Hoffman, two of Jobs’s original Apple partners.

Fassbender, an Oscar-nominated actor, doesn’t look all that much like Jobs in real life, but his commanding presence gives him a similar confidence to the Apple co-founder, at least in this one clip. It’s a tall task to emulate a legend who died just a few years ago, but the actor says he’s game for the job thanks to Sorkin’s unique script.

“There’s always trepidation, I think, when you’re playing real people and representing them in a way on screen, for sure,” he told Yahoo Movies last month. “But I think the writing was exceptional. I think it was a really intriguing way to tell the story about someone who is so famous and has changed all of our lives. I thought it was a really original approach on the biopic.”

Steve Jobs hits theaters on October 9.
