Stephen Curry’s agent denied Friday that the Warriors star is actually pictured in nude photos released earlier in the day on social media.
Early reports suggested Curry’s wife, Ayesha, was also in the photos, but her publicist told Yahoo Sports later Monday the chef and restaurateur is not a part of the leak.
According to Alex Raskin of The Daily Mail, the photos are “absolutely” not of the 31-year-old Curry.
Celebrity nude photo leaks has become an unfortunate trend of late. In August 2014, a man hacked more than 100 iCloud accounts and leaked private photos of more than 500 celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton. It happened again in 2016 and Forbes detailed how the act takes “zero hacking skills.” There are even tutorials on YouTube on how to do it.
The Department of Justice charged the man and he pled guilty to a felony violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. California also has a revenge porn law, which took effect in October 2013 and was first used in 2014.
California Penal Code Section 647(j) (4) states it is illegal for a person to “intentionally distributes the image of the intimate body part or parts of another identifiable person ... under circumstances in which the persons agree or understand that the image shall remain private, the person distributing the image knows or should know that distribution of the image will cause serious emotional distress, and the person depicted suffers that distress.”
It is a misdemeanor punishable with up to six months in jail and a fine up to $1,000.
The Currys are affectionately known by some as the first family of basketball. Stephen and Ayesha, who have two daughters and a son, are Christians and have tried to keep their private life just that even though they share glimpses into their life on social media. Stephen said earlier this year he regrets bringing his oldest daughter, Riley, into the bright lights of stardom at such an early age. She was the star of a NBA Finals news conference in 2015.
