States declare emergencies over fuel shortages after US pipeline shutdown

Hundreds of filling stations in the United States have run out of fuel as motorists panic buy in the wake of the Colonial oil pipeline shutdown. The link was paralysed by a ransomware attack last Friday. Governors in states including Florida and Virginia have declared emergencies over the shortages. The pipeline's operators will announce later on Wednesday when they expect to resume service.
