There’s not long to go but already streets have been closed off ahead of the huge World Première for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

Taking place on Hollywood Boulevard on Monday (14 December), four blocks of the iconic street have been closed since Thursday in order to prepare the stage for the biggest movie event in years.

Since then, a huge white-topped tent has been erected, and will host not only some of the most iconic names from the movie franchise, but a collection of famous faces in general.

One production manager told The Hollywood Reporter: “This is definitely bigger than the Oscars,“ which is quite a claim. But when you look at that eye in the sky image, you get a sense of the enormous scope of what’s being set up here.

Traffic has been diverted around the area all weekend as police patrolled the streets and made their way through groups of tourists, with the vicinity sealed off off to the public, even though footpaths are still open for access.

Although none of the star-studded guests know which cinema they’ll actually be seeing the anticipated seventh film in yet. There are three in the area, include the TCL Chinese Theater, where some fanatics have been camped out since 5 December and plan to remain there until 17 December.

According to one of the uber fans camped out, Caroline Ritter, it wasn’t easy to sleep in their tents as organisers began setting up, but it’s not all bad: “Lucasfilm bought us pizza, so that was nice.” Every cloud.

If you thought The Oscars were big, just wait until you see this. We predict it’s going to be worth staying up for.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is in UK cinemas on 17 December.
