Star Wars' John Boyega is reuniting with Attack the Block director Joe Cornish for a long-awaited sequel to the action-packed sci-fi hit.

Released in 2011, the original centred on a South London-based teen gang who stumble across an alien race's plan to invade the capital city and subsequently vow to spend the night taking down the extraterrestrial beasties.

Legends of Tomorrow's Franz Drameh, Fortitude's Luke Treadaway, Shaun of the Dead's Nick Frost and Doctor Who's Jodie Whittaker also featured.

According to Deadline, Boyega will reprise the same role in the follow-up.

"It's been a decade since Attack the Block was released and so much has changed since then," Boyega told the publication. "I'm excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour."

Attack the Block is currently available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
