The Orestimba Warriors have started the season on an offensive tear and among the many players that helped produce 17 runs through the team’s first two games is senior pitcher and utility player Jacquelyn Lujan.

Lujan, playing in her third varsity season, had a stellar junior campaign, batting .602 with 11 doubles and 34 RBIs. In her first two varsity seasons on the mound, she went a combined 21-3 and struck out 201 batters as a junior.

She started her final high school season strong, picking up her first win this season pitching a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out 13 batters in a 9-0 victory over Riverbank. She helped herself out at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, stealing one base and scoring a run. The fans noticed her performance, voting her The Bee’s Girls Player of the Week.

Lujan finished first after collecting 48% of the more than 48,600 votes in the weekly poll. She came in ahead of Downey track and field athlete Jada Orona and Turlock softball player Cadee Campbell who finished in second and third.
