Spotify down for second time in January; More than 40,000 reports of problems
Spotify, the music and podcast streaming service, was down for thousands of users Thursday afternoon – the second time this month. As many as 43,000 reports of problems with the service were made Thursday, according to Downdetector, which tracks app outages.
Users on Twitter reported that the search function was failing, and that their music would no longer pay – and the hashtag #SpotifyDown began trending. Users lamented that the outage, with many tweeting they were without tunes at work.
One user tweeted a video clip from "The Emperor's New Groove," saying "You threw off my groove!"

Spotify confirmed on Twitter the service was down for some Thursday. "Something's not quite right," the service tweeted on its Spotify Status account.
About an hour after Spotify acknowledged the problem, it said the issue had been resolved, though some users on Twitter said they were still experiencing issues with the app.

Thursday’s outage was the second this month. Spotify went down on the evening of Jan. 13. That outage took just over two hours to resolve.
