Alex Scott Lauded by U.S. Ambassador to U.K. Jane D. Hartley as Endeavor Launches Women in Sport Initiative

Arsenal, Boston Breakers and England soccer star Alex Scott was the subject of a fulsome tribute by Jane D. Hartley, U.S. Ambassador to the U.K., at an event to launch an Endeavor women in sports initiative.

Endeavor Impact’s NXT UK: Women in Sports is a six-week virtual program designed to engage women in the U.K. aged between 18-24 who wish to pursue careers in the sports industry. It will run during summer 2024 and will be free to all. It was launched at the Ambassador’s official residence Winfield House, in London by Hartley, and Endeavor’s senior VP and head of impact and inclusion, Romola Ratnam.

In partnership with the U.S. embassy in the U.K. and the Women’s Sport Collective, the program will feature live introductory sessions on sports media, licensing, entertainment, representation and sponsorship, as well as executive mindset, the power of networking, career navigation and strategic thinking. The sessions will be delivered by executives from Endeavor-owned businesses IMG, WME Sports, 160over90 and On Location, as well as leaders and allies from across the global sport industry, such as Sue Anstiss – founder and CEO of the Women’s Sport Collective.

Hartley described Scott as “someone who has inspired millions with her grace and grit on the pitch, for wit and wisdom as a commentator. And especially important for me, especially for others for mentorship of young women who want to grow up to be just like her.”

“As the star for both Arsenal and the [England soccer team] Lionesses, Alex inspired millions of girls to dream bigger. And, by the way, inspired millions of boys to look at girls differently, which frankly, is just as important,” Hartley added.

Scott did not speak at the event.

Ratnam said: “Through our various virtual pipeline programs, including the NXT series, we want to democratize access to the sports and entertainment industries for under-represented groups. NXT UK: Women in Sports aims to provide free education and inspiration that anybody can access from any device, no matter where they are, and help kick-start a career in sport. It’s important we take steps to increase diversity within our industry and encourage the next generation of talented women to build a career in sport – whether that’s at Endeavor or beyond.”

Registration for the initiative kick off on May 1. Interested attendees can pre-register here.
