Spider-Man 2 title has "alternate meaning", says Marvel

From Digital Spy

Kevin Feige has revealed that the title of Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 will have an "alternate meaning", so make of that what you will.

The Marvel boss recently confirmed the film will be called Spider-Man: Far from Home, after actor Tom Holland – who plays the web-slinging superhero – leaked the movie's name on social media.

"[It's] similar [to Spider-Man: Homecoming]," Feige explained (via CinemaBlend).

"I won't say what the meanings are, but we enjoy that title because, like Homecoming, it is full of alternate meaning. And we liked continuing the 'Home' thing, with the little Spidey symbol in the 'Home'."

Spider-Man: Far from Home will be released in July next year, and... caution: Infinity War spoilers ahead!

The film will see Holland return as Peter Parker, who is actually currently deceased in the MCU timeline following the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

And we bet the actor felt a little dead inside when his title-spoiling events unfolded over the weekend.

Sorry for no announcements, but I love you guys ♥️

On Sunday (June 24), Holland posted a video on Instagram from Seattle's ACE Comic-Con, alongside the caption: "Sorry for no announcements, but I love you guys."

And, while saying he would not be revealing spoilers, the actor was holding an iPad which featured a script clearly stating the Spider-Man: Far from Home title.

Oh dear. We're choosing to believe it was all part of the joke... but with Tom, who knows for sure?

Spider-Man: Far From Home will be released on July 5, 2019. Avengers: Infinity War is still out in some cinemas now. Book tickets here.
