Spencer Matthews would've 'lost' wife Vogue Williams if he hadn't stopped drinking
Spencer Matthews has admitted he would've "lost" his wife Vogue Williams if he hadn't quit alcohol.
The former 'Made in Chelsea' star says he and Vogue had a "highly social, quite boozy relationship" after they first met on Channel 4 reality TV show 'The Jump'.
But the star - who has son Theo, five, daughter Gigi, three, and two-year-old son Otto, with Vogue - knew he eventually had to give up drink to keep his marriage on track.
Speaking on The Mail's ‘Everything I Know About Me’ podcast, Spencer said: "There was a certainty that I would lose Vogue, if I carried on drinking the way I was drinking."
Spencer - who married the model in 2018 - has recalled going on a "mental bender" after he won 'The Jump', but he later felt like a "real mess".
He said: "When I won I went on some like mental bender, lost everything.
"I was beginning to feel like I was a real mess, then. And that was a bit unusual for me."
While he claimed Vogue is "a bit of a binge drinker", she ditched alcohol when pregnant with Theo, but Spencer continued to drink at that time.
But because Vogue wasn't drinking, it "emphasised" Spencer's alcohol intake.
He said: "My drinking was emphasised by the fact that she wasn't drinking.
"There was a general level of disappointment in her about me.
"I've always wanted people who are close to me to be proud of me."
But he quit alcohol after a turning point in 2017, when he drank most of a bottle of whiskey.
Earlier this year, Spencer told how he "could've died" during the height of his "abusive drinking" habit.
