Spectators Gasp as Lightning Flashes Behind Fireworks Display in Washington

A lightning bolt added a dramatic touch to a Fourth of July fireworks display in northeast Washington.

Gabe McDonald recorded the shocking moment a lightning bolt shot down from the night sky, just as fireworks were going off over Loon Lake, Washington.

McDonald told Storyful, “It was absolutely crazy! When I was shooting, we knew storms were in the area, but didn’t know lightning was as close as it was seen in this video,” he told Storyful.

The National Weather Service issued a scattered thunderstorm warning for the area. Credit: Gabe McDonald via Storyful
