Spawn fans can let their excitement build up for the long-touted reboot after producer Jason Blum gave a promising update.

The reboot of Spawn, which follows a mercenary who comes back from the dead as a soldier of the Devil, has long been in the works. Fans have wondered, however, just when they might get to see the updated version of the character on the big screen.

In a new interview with Comic Book, Blumhouse producer Blum revealed when the film would be released: "2025 is when Spawn is going to come out. I stand by that. I stand by that."

This follows on from his comments earlier this year about the movie, when he said the project was still in active development.

"I would say you have a lot to hope for because it's in very, very active development. What needs to happen is that my fellow friends, the writers and the studios, need to figure out their differences and get back to writing, but we've got a great group of folks putting it together," Blum said to Comic Book.

"My prediction is maybe we'll actually see a Spawn movie in '25. No promises, but that's my prediction." These new comments confirm this planned release date and add weight to them, too.

The original Spawn movie, starring Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, and Martin Sheen, came out in 1997. However, a reboot from comic book creator Todd McFarlane, who created the character of Spawn, has been in the works since the 2010s.

Blumhouse Productions acquired the script in 2017 and hired McFarlane to direct. Jamie Foxx was set to play Spawn, but the project was halted for a while. It is now not known if Foxx will be involved, and there is currently no casting news, although writers who worked on Joker and Captain America were hired last year.
