Spain rescues 120 migrants at sea near Gran Canaria

The sub-Saharan migrants were located on board of two rubber dinghies 75 miles south-east of Gran Canaria island on Tuesday (January 25) evening, local authorities said.

Red Cross said five pregnant women were transported to the hospital following health protocols.

According to Spanish government data, 790 migrants have made the perilous journey from West Africa to the Canaries archipelago until January 16 of this year.
