Which southwestern Illinois grocery stores will be open for Labor Day? See holiday hours

As metro-east and St. Louis region residents see a break in the 100-degree weather, September has arrived and Labor Day is fast approaching.

If you’re picking up some last-minute barbecue supplies or simply need to do some grocery shopping on the holiday Monday, you may be wondering whether your usual store will be open. Some chains are operating under limited hours.

Here’s what to know if you need to stop somewhere for groceries in the metro-east this Labor Day.

Walmart

Most Walmart locations will be open regular hours for Labor Day this year. For the store at 2608 Green Mount Commons Drive in Belleville, the hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Aldi

Aldi stores will be open for limited hours for Labor Day, the company’s website says. Hours will vary by location. The Aldi at 1708 N. Illinois St. in Swansea will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and many other locations will also close at 6 p.m.

Schnucks

All Schnucks grocery stores will be open this Labor Day, the company’s website says. The Schnucks at 800 Carlyle Ave. in Belleville will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, though hours may vary for the CVS pharmacy located inside the store.

Target

Target stores will generally be open for Labor Day. The location at 5601 Belleville Crossing St. will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s will generally be open typical hours for Labor Day 2023. The Brentwood, Mo., location will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sam’s Club

Sam’s Club will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labor Day for club-level members. Those with a Plus membership can start shopping at 8 a.m.
