Sophie Ellis-Bextor has said she’s “bruised and sore” after an accident during a bike ride on Tuesday evening left her in hospital.
The singer posted a black-and-white photo to Instagram on Wednesday morning of herself in a hospital bed with a bandage on her head.
The mother-of-five, who also sported a face mask, appeared to have sustained injuries around one of her eyes as well as to an arm.
She wrote alongside the snap: "I ended up in a&e last night after I took a tumble from the tow path down to the side of the Thames on my bike during an evening cycle. I’ve put the photo in black and white so it’s not too gory.
"I am ok, just a bit bruised and sore. I want to thank the ambulance crew and the staff at west mid hospital (where I was born, as it happens) for gluing me back together."
The 41-year-old sent thanks to passers-by who had intervened to help her and husband Richard Jones.
She went on: "I also want to thank Lucas, Colin, Josh and Willow who were 4 runners who stopped and helped @richardjonesface and I when I hurt myself. You were so calm, thoughtful and reassuring. Thank you very much. I hope you see this message as I didn’t get your details. You’re all lovely people. Xxxx."
The songstress has been delighting fans during lockdown with her “kitchen discos”, which came to a close last Friday.
After 10 shows over two months, Ellis-Bextor decided to call an end to the videos, which saw her dance around her London home while singing some of her own classics as well as covers.
The Murder On The Dancefloor hitmaker could often be seen surrounded by her five sons. Her husband Jones, bass player with band The Feeling, also joined in with the weekly festivities.
