Sony has continued to expand its Spider-Verse after the release of a brand new Spider-Verse movie — a short film made by some up-and-coming storytellers.

The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story premiered at Annecy Festival on June 12, Sony confirmed. The film was made by Sony's LENS filmmaking team. LENS is an initiative that gives underrepresented groups the chance to tell stories from Sony's animation films.

In a tweet, Sony wrote: "Earlier today, our talented LENS filmmaking team premiered The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story at #AnnecyFestival! Here is an exclusive first look at their short film."

They continued: "The Spider Within: A Spider-Verse Story is a short film created through our LENS program by Director Jarelle Dampier, Writer Khaila Amazan, VFX Supervisor Clara Chan, Animation Supervisor Joe Darko, and Producers Michelle Raimo-Kouyate and David Schulenburg."

The story follows Miles Morales (voiced in the franchise by Shameik Moore) struggling with the pressures of being Spider-Man and trying to deal with anxiety. This leads to a trippy tour through Miles' subconscious in what is a horror-tinged short film.

This is another gold star for the Spider-Verse after Across the Spider-Verse broke records at the box office and became Sony's highest-grossing animated movie of all time. That movie ended on a cliffhanger, with Beyond the Spider-Verse set to wrap up the trilogy next year.

But that might not be all fans get to see of Miles. The MCU's Spider-Man, Tom Holland, recently said that he wants Miles to be introduced in the MCU.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is in cinemas now.
