Son of former NBA player Peja Stojakovic plans on making recruiting trip to Kansas

Andrej Stojakovic, a 6-foot-7, 190-pound senior-to-be forward from Jesuit High School in Carmichael, California, is planning on making an official men’s basketball recruiting visit to Kansas, he confirmed to The Star in a direct message on Twitter.

Stojakovic is the son of three-time NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic, who has retired after a 13-year NBA career that included winning a 2011 championship with Dallas Mavericks.

Andrej, who is ranked No. 63 in the Class of 2023 by Rivals.com and No. 103 by both ESPN.com and 247sports.com, is being pursued by numerous schools including KU, Kentucky, UCLA, Texas, Indiana, Florida, Louisville, Stanford, USC, Tennessee, UConn, Oregon, Georgia Tech and others.

Stojakovic — he averaged 25.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game as a junior at Jesuit High — told Rivals.com he plans on visiting Stanford, Texas, Virginia, Tennessee and either UConn or Indiana between now and July 31. Those visits count as his junior year visits in accordance with NCAA rules.

He’s planning trips during the 2022-23 school year to KU, UCLA, USC, Kentucky and either UConn or Indiana.

“Haven’t set a date yet for the (KU) visit,” he told The Star in a text message. “Kansas is definitely in the mix!” he added.

Stojakovic has made 49% of his shots so far during his high school career including 40% of his threes. He’s an 80% free throw shooter. He plays AAU basketball for the Compton (California) Magic.

His dad, Peja, averaged 24.2 points per game in 2003 with the Sacramento Kings, his best season in the NBA.

“I view myself as more of an all-around player,” Andrej Stojakovic told 247Sports.com. “But, if I’m being honest, a lot of my game is from him (Peja) and from working out with him. All of the little things that he teaches me matter and they work in the game so I’m sticking to that.”

Of his game, Sam Connon of SI.com wrote: “At 6-foot-7, Stojakovic has the body of a forward but boasts the footwork, quickness and skills of a more dynamic wing.”

Kingsley Onyenso wants to visit KU, Kentucky

Ugonna Kingsley Onyenso, a 7-foot senior-to-be center from Putnam (Connecticut) Science Academy, is planning on making a recruiting trip to KU in June, Rivals.com reports.

Kingsley Onyenso — he is ranked No. 36 by ESPN.com and No. 87 by Rivals.com — also wants to visit Kentucky this summer. Others on his list include UConn. Iowa, Texas Tech, Clemson, Georgia and Cal.

“Kingsley Onyenso’s size, motor and athleticism have been obvious for a while now, and that alone made him worth ranking in the top 100. What may have been a bit overlooked, however, was his level of skill,” wrote Rob Cassidy of Rivals.com. “if he continues to develop at this pace, a significant bump in the rankings is certainly in order.”

Kingsley Onyenso is originally from Nigeria.

“He’s 7-0 and can pass, dribble and shoot at a high level for his size,” Team New England/New York Jayhawks AAU coach Isaiah Davis told 247sports.com. “He’s like a baby Giannis (Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks forward). The glaring part to his game is his skill but what also stands out is his adjustment to the speed of how they play here in America compared to in Africa. It only took him a few weeks

“He’s probably a 4 because of the way he can shoot,” Davis added. “What colleges will look at right away is the way he can affect so many shots because of his length and timing. But the thing I didn’t know is how fast he is, his dribble, and how fluid his shot is.”
