Soldier Surprises Parents for Thanksgiving After Three Years Apart

A mother and father in New York received a very special Thanksgiving surprise when their son returned home for the holiday on November 25.

Dariel Disla filmed his brother, Deury, surprising his parents in their Harlem apartment on the eve of Thanksgiving. He said his brother was stationed in Japan for three years and had not seen his mother during that time.

In the footage, Dariel Disla can be seen calling his mother and father to wait in the living room, reassuring them that “nothing bad” is happening. He said he sneezed to give his brother the signal to enter.

“This was a Thanksgiving surprise as we entered the house hours before Thanksgiving day,” Dariel said. “My parents were in shock. My mother cried as she was filled with joy.” Credit: Dariel Disla via Storyful
