When was the last time you left a convenience store without a Slim Jim in your hand? We know, we can’t think that far back either. Slim Jim is a staple on-the-go snack we can always count on, but that beefy flavor is going to taste a little different, if you choose it, that is, because the brand has partnered with SONIC Drive-In to create a new flavor.

The SONIC Chili Cheese Coney flavored Slim Jim was inspired by the Chili Cheese Coney at the fast food spot. It consists of a grilled beef hot dog topped with warm chili and melty cheddar cheese in a soft, warm bakery bun. Somehow, all those elements have been combined into beef sticks to create a taste reminiscent of the real thing.

“For the first time ever, we’re taking a beloved entrée flavor, the Chili Cheese Coney, and creating a tasty, craveable snack,” Lori Abou Habib, chief marketing officer for SONIC, said in a press release.

Each Slim Jim is individually wrapped and Monster-sized (1.94 ounces), which means it’s twice the size of a Giant Slim Jim, so it’s quite the bite. The Chili Cheese Coney-flavored sticks are rolling out at select convenience stores and retailers nationwide, and will have increased availability throughout the year.

“Our fans expect bold flavor when they snap into a Slim Jim,” said Spencer Fivelson, brand director, Conagra Brands. “An innovative partner such as SONIC was perfect for a new addition to our line of Monster sticks, delivering the iconic taste of their Chili Cheese Coney in an exciting new way.”

Slim Jim already has a range of flavors and sizes, but none quite like what a partnership with SONIC would lead to. It’ll add a whole new experience to your road trip snacking.
