Sir Elton John Ends Eight-Year Feud With Mother Sheila

Just last month it was reported that Sir Elton John was paying out £30,000 for his estranged mother’s hip operation, and now the singing legend has confirmed that he and his mum, Sheila, are back on good terms.

Phew - about bloomin’ time, eh?

Elton and Sheila famously fell out eight years ago when Sheila refused to cut her son’s ex-manager and ex-assistant out of her life, also blaming Elton’s husband, David Furnish, for turning the singer against her.

However, the 68-year-old ‘Rocket Man’ hitmaker has now shared: “Out of respect for my mother’s privacy, I have always shied away from speaking publicly about our relationship.

"However, I can say that we are now back in touch and have been so since my mother’s 90th birthday.”

We bet she’s hoping for a mega Mother’s Day gift now that they’re back on speaking terms.

A source close to Elton has now revealed that Sheila’s landmark birthday was a turning point for the pair, telling The Mirror: “Enough was enough. It had gone on for a long time which is desperately sad, but he didn’t want things to continue downhill.

"He decided when she turned 90 things had to change and they’ve been back in contact. Obviously he was happy to help out with her hip operation. He wanted to make sure she got the best possible care and did everything he could to ensure that happened.

"Before the fall-out they were incredibly close and hopefully they can now rebuild their relationship.”

It was reported that Elton’s husband, David, had encouraged the star to pick up the bill for Sheila’s hospital stay and we bet that he couldn’t be happier with the way that things have worked out.
