Simon Cowell makes joke about his own face on BGTITV - ITV

Britain's Got Talent boss Simon Cowell made a cheeky reference to his own face in tonight's (May 20) show.

At the time, the judging panel - including Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon - had just endured a strange audition that, for a while, seemed as though it was just a guy, named Tom Crosbie, speedily messing around with Rubik's cubes.

Crosbie then flipped the board they'd been placed on, only to reveal Albert Einstein's perfect face - but he wasn't done there either, because Tonioli's face appeared through the colourful cubes on the other side too.

Having blown the judges away, the contestant then confessed that he'd originally wanted to work a portrait of Cowell in his routine, but his face was too difficult to bring to life.

In response, Cowell self-deprecatingly suggested he could "change" his face "again" if that would make it any easier, much to the amusement of his co-stars.

It's been a long while since he last said anything about the "Botox years".

Ahead of 2019's Britain's Got Talent: The Champions, Cowell told The Mirror: "I love watching 'the Botox years'. All of us are like, 'Christ, we had a lot that year. Not so much that year… Maybe a bit too much that year'.

"You know, the old clips of us are hysterical. Amanda's always like, 'What was I thinking?', I said, 'Well, I don't look a lot better.'

"I look all right now, but certain years it was like, 'Wow', I don't know what was going on."

Britain's Got Talent airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
