Yahoo Movies Shiatzy Chen RTW Fall 2021
Inspired by the notion of time — her hand drawings on the subject provided the motifs for the lineup — Wang Chen Tsai-Hsia delivered her vision of power dressing for fall. She used her skilled hand with Chinese craft techniques to create what she described as “youthful patterns” on a wardrobe of structured silhouettes.
The look: Oversize coats, men’s shirts and straight, diagonally wrapped skirts were the building blocks for the Taiwanese luxury label this season. These were adorned with motifs that spanned from the graffiti-like to something resembling traditional ink drawings — in places, there was a mash-up of both. Vivid red, glittering fabrics and embellishments and fur trims accentuated the decadent ’80s feel.

Standout pieces: A red asymmetric jacket with contrasting graffiti-patterned collar; a sleeveless Mandarin-collar top in black leather, paired with a full skirt; the sheer embellished polo necks, worn over feminine bodices and paired with a wrap skirt.
Takeaway: Wang Chen Tsai-Hsia has experience in putting her unique spin on craft techniques and using them in sometimes surprising ways. This season, she did this on a wardrobe for sharp-shouldered heroines who like to strut their stuff and aren’t afraid of a little glitz.
