Yahoo Movies Shawn Johnson is pregnant with baby No. 2: 'Here we go again'
Shawn Johnson is pregnant with baby number two.
The retired Olympic gymnast, 28, and her husband, Andrew East, 29, announced on Friday that they are expecting in a YouTube video and Instagram post writing, “Here we go again.”
The photos posted to Johnson’s Instagram also feature the couple’s daughter, Drew Hazel East, who turned one in November. After miscarrying in 2017 and struggling to get pregnant with their daughter, Drew, the couple admitted that they didn’t expect the second pregnancy to happen so quickly. Johnson even explained in their YouTube announcement that she was fearful, yet again, of celebrating when she first found out.
“I think every time I get a pregnancy test positive after the miscarriage, I try to numb myself and be like, ‘Ok, here’s the situation. You’re pregnant, we don’t know how it’s going to end,’” she shared. “I don’t celebrate it, which is kind of sad. I get very excited, but I also get very daunted by the situation.”
To make matters more complicated, East tested positive for coronavirus just days after finding out that his wife was pregnant. “It’s so confusing as a family,” Johnson said in the video. East added, “Having a wife who you just found out was pregnant and you want to support and celebrate with and hug and cuddle, it was not the ideal situation.”
As the family is now all together, healthy and settling into their reality as expectant parents, the couple is looking forward to the craziness of having two children under two years old.
“I’m excited for this new journey. And we don’t know what it’s about to look like,” East said. “I don’t want to say that we’ve got parenting figured out, by any means. But we at least know that life is chaos now, and so this will just be a little bit more of that.”
