Shane Beamer gives update on Josh Vann ahead of bowl game

South Carolina senior receiver Josh Vann is “questionable” for the Gamecocks’ bowl game after suffering a knee injury in the Clemson game.

Head coach Shane Beamer, speaking with reporters Sunday, said Vann hasn’t been ruled out of South Carolina’s Dec. 30 Gator Bowl matchup with Notre Dame.

Vann’s left leg bent awkwardly after going airborne in the first quarter of the Nov. 26 game while making a 34-yard reception on a Spencer Rattler pass. Vann had two catches for 56 yards in the win over the Tigers. He has 18 catches for 296 yards on the season.

Beamer previously indicated that Vann’s injury was not to his ACL.

Vann led the team last year in receptions (43) and receiving yards (679), adding five scores. He walked on Senior Day in 2021 and then again in 2022 after opting to return to South Carolina for one final season.

Vann at the Clemson needed help walking the sideline and was having trouble putting weight on his left leg after the catch. He was later seen moving around on crutches with a brace on that leg.
