Shake Shack: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

NEW YORK (AP) _ Shake Shack Inc. (SHAK) on Thursday reported a loss of $19.4 million in its fourth quarter.

The New York-based company said it had a loss of 50 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs and asset impairment costs, came to 3 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 13 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 11 cents per share.

The burger chain posted revenue of $157.5 million in the period, which met Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $42.2 million, or $1.14 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $522.9 million.

Shake Shack shares have climbed 40% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $118.92, a climb of 89% in the last 12 months.
