The Shack in East Sacramento will open again under direction of popular craft brewery

East Sacramento restaurant, The Shack, won’t be closing after all. Local brewpub, Urban Roots, announced on Facebook it plans to take over the business.

Downtown Urban Roots Brewing and Smokehouse, which opened in 2018 with co-founders Rob Archie and Peter Hoey, on 1322 V Street, is known for its house-made beer and barbecue menu. Archie also owns Pangaea Bier Cafe on 2743 Franklin Blvd.

“It’s a tremendous honor to carry on the tradition and history of that location,” Urban Roots wrote.

The burger spot closed on July 31 after being in business for 17 years, and customers shared their disappointment under the announcement post on Facebook. After the reopening news, patrons on Reddit wished the business good luck in its future with Urban Roots.

The Shack is at 5201 Folsom Boulevard in East Sacramento. The restaurant’s website is still online, but is not accepting orders.

More details, including plans for the future and an opening date, will be announced at a later date.

“There is still lots to do before we can open but stay tuned for more details. Lots of good things to come!” Urban Roots said on Facebook.
