Sewage Water Pours Out of Pipe on Bexhill Beach

Sewage water could be seen gushing into the ocean at Bexhill Beach in East Sussex on Wednesday, August 17, after electrical issues at a wastewater pumping station caused a sewage release in the area.

Footage recorded by @BEMatters shows murky water pouring out of a pipe on Bexhill Beach.

Southern Water said on Wednesday that “issues with electrical power at one of our wastewater pumping stations” had caused “a release” into the sea at Bexhill.

Rother District Council advised people to stay away from the beaches at Bexhill due to a sewage discharge on Wednesday evening.

Southern Water said on Thursday that repairs were ongoing but emergency generators were in place to prevent further releases. Rother Council’s advice to avoid the area remained in place on Friday.
