Lake Champlain Chocolates (LCC) has issued a recall on select chocolate products that have been on the market for roughly six months over concerns that they contain pieces of plastic.

The company issued the recall after a customer reported finding "brittle plastic pieces" in one of the candy products. As a result, LCC is recalling all potentially affected chocolate products which have been on the market from July 2020 through January 2021. These products include select lots of its Hazelnut Five Star Bar, Fruit & Nut Five Star Bar, Almond Five Star Bar, Granola Five Star Bar, Organic Milk Chocolate Bar with Sea Salt & Almonds, Milk Chocolate Almond Bark, and Chocolates of Vermont Green Mountain, with certain expiration dates.

Just a note, these bars have been found in various gift packages and baskets, so it's important to check all LCC products. You can find the Best By Date near the UPC code on the individual package. You can see a full list of affected products on the recall notice here.

There have been no reports of illness or ill effects in relation to the affected products. These chocolates were distributed across the United States as well as in LCC's three Vermont retail stores. If you have any of the products on the list, LCC advises that you should discontinue use and immediately dispose of them.

LCC finished the alert by apologizing to its customers for any inconvenience. For any additional questions or concerns, regarding this recall customers are encouraged to email info@lakechamplainchocolates.com.
