He said in a statement: "Its appeal across generations, the intersection of humor and heart, and its truly original approach are a hallmark of and testament to Dan [Fogelman], John [Hoffman], Steve, Marty and Selena’s work. We are grateful to be able to continue telling the stories of Charles, Oliver and Mabel to viewers that have consistently shown us they crave more of this story."

Is there a trailer for Only Murders in the Building season 3?

Not yet. But Hulu did release a teaser during the 2023 Oscars. Though it's only 30-seconds, the streamer showed just enough to hold folks over. In case you're wondering, the one and only Meryl Streep made an appearance alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short and Paul Rudd.

Who will be in the Only Murders in the Building season 3 cast?

The Arconia's been quite the revolving door for a slate of celebrity guest stars, including the likes of Sting, Tina Fey, Amy Schumer, Shirley MacLaine, Cara Delevingne and more. We expect the star-studded roster to grow with each season. But, it's a murder mystery, after all. So, as of now, all evidence points to the usual suspects:

  • Selena Gomez as Mabel Mora

  • Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage

  • Martin Short as Oliver Putnam

  • Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Williams

In a most grandiose entrance, Paul Rudd made a cameo in the season 2 finale as the star of Oliver's play, Ben Glenroy. Though his curtain call came abruptly (a nasty onstage death by poison), we can expect this mystery to trail into Only Murders in the Building season 3.

As we speculate whether Paul will reappear as a regular or a fleeting guest star, the series co-creator John Hoffman assured Variety that he's "someone we clearly want to know more about and see in our upcoming season 3 — as he is a clear source of many upcoming questions and, as ever with our show, many twists yet to come!”

Tack on a new headshot to the suspect's board — as if the cast couldn't get any more impressive, it just invited its most prestigious guest yet. Selena dropped the biggest plot twist of all on Instagram. The Only Murders crew crowded together on a couch as the Spring Breakers star announced they were on set and filming season 3.

"The gang is back ... Could this honestly get any better?" she asked. After panning to Paul who said, "I do think it could get better." With that, Meryl Streep popped up from behind the couch, asking if her new co-stars need anything. Consider our jaws, dropped.

"I could cry 😭 season 3 is coming!" Selena captioned the post. It seemed like Only Murders in the Building fans agreed as they sounded off with shock and awe in the comments. "ONLY LEGENDS IN THE BUILDING!!!" one person wrote. "I CAN’T WAIT 😍😍😍😍," a different viewer said. "I am screamingggggggggg," another added.

How many episodes are in Only Murders in the Building season 3?

We're still tailing leads, but seasons 1 and 2 each pack in 10 suspense-filled episodes. It would only make sense for Only Murders in the Building season 3 to follow the same pattern.

What will Only Murders in the Building season 3 be about?

Get your red push pins and detective hats ready. The creators revealed that the upcoming season plans to shift focus toward Oliver, which season 2 already hinted at with the one-year jump forward to Oliver's Broadway directorial debut.

John explained to The Hollywood Reporter: "If season 1 was a little more focused on the emotional storyline for Mabel and Tim Kono, and season 2 was a little more emotionally connected to Charles and his relationship with his father and himself, I’m very excited to both lean into the theatrical side of New York City and also into Oliver and his world."

As of August 23, 2022, the show's writers are already six weeks into writing for season 3, with promises of an "insane" and "so exciting" season ahead. "It’s also very twisty," John admitted to TVLine. "We try to check ourselves, like, 'OK, what can we do and how can we do this differently?' and 'What feels like a different take? A fresh take?'"

He added: "So I can only say hang tight! There’s a lot going on, and certainly, the victim is colorfully drawn so far."
