See the Highlights of Max Mara Resort 2023
In the gardens of Lisbon’s Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation as Fado music played, Max Mara presented its Resort 2023 collection. The Italian womenswear label Max Mara took inspiration from the city of Lisbon for its Resort 2023 collection. When creative director Ian Griffiths visited the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon last year, he was struck by a portrait of the late intellectual and poet Natália Correia, who had scandalized society in her day with the publication of works like Anthology of Erotic. In turn, Griffiths infused his pencil skirts, fishnets, flowing dresses and, of course, teddy and cashmere coats, with a welcome sensuality.
The brand also took inspiration from other aspects of Portuguese culture, including Fado music. The Fado signer Carminho both walked in the show and created the soundtrack. She wore a black wiggle dress, a style favored by Correia. The show ended with long skirts with matching knitwear that blew in the wind as the Fado music reached its apex. See some of the shows highlights below.
