SCUSD school year won't be extended, but students may have to make up time later on

The Sacramento City Unified School District says it will not be extending the 2021-22 school year to make up for lost school days due to a teacher strike in March. The district still faces a $46 million fine in financial penalties. The 2021-22 SCUSD school year will end as scheduled on June 16, the district said in a letter to families on Thursday. Next year the school will also start as scheduled on Sept. 1, 2022. However, students may have to make up twice the amount of time in the next two school years.
