Scooby-Doo the baby kangaroo stolen in KY. Without special supplies, he’s in danger.

A 10-month-old kangaroo has been stolen from Hillview Stables in Laurel County, and his owner is desperate to get him back.

Angi Smith, manager of Hillview Stables, last saw Scooby-Doo, the stolen kangaroo, just before 5 p.m. Sunday for a feeding. When she came back for another feeding after the business closed approximately three hours later, Scooby-Doo was gone.

Customers have since sent Smith photos showing Scooby-Doo in his stable before 7:30 p.m., 30 minutes after closing time. Smith suspects someone came back to the farm shortly afterward and stole the kangaroo along with his pouch.

“All they would’ve had to do because they took his pouch with him, and all they had to do was have him in there and have it on their shoulder. They could’ve draped their coat over it or anything and just walked right out the door, and you really wouldn’t of paid that much attention to it,” Smith said.

Time is of the essence in retrieving Scooby-Doo. Smith said Scooby-Doo drinks a special kind of kangaroo milk called Wombaroo milk, which has a higher fat percentage.

Smith orders the milk from Michigan. She bought enough supply to last Scooby-Doo four to five months and it cost $289.

Smith said there’s no replacement for Wombaroo milk, and if he isn’t fed it regularly, Smith estimates Scooby-Doo won’t survive longer than a week. He needs to be kept in a warm environment and can only be fed distilled water.

“If he doesn’t (get distilled water), he will get diarrhea, and if he gets diarrhea, he won’t last very long at all,” Smith said.

Smith doesn’t have any idea who could’ve taken Scooby-Doo or why someone would steal him. She is in contact with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department and has alerted state troopers, the local humane society and other buyers/sellers of exotic animals in the area.

A $500 reward is being offered for Scooby-Doo’s safe return. The reward goes up to $1,000 if Scooby-Doo is returned safely along with information that leads to the arrest of the person that stole him.

Hillview Stables is home to many exotic animals. Along with kangaroos, the business also houses water buffaloes, longhorn sheep, llamas, emus, camels and more.

Just two weeks ago, a baby spotted pig was stolen from the property. Smith said the pig has not been found yet, but it has a better chance of surviving away from the stables than Scooby-Doo.
