Saw X has a post-credit scene with some returning characters

Saw X producer Mark Burg has revealed a post-credit scene will bring back some characters from the franchise.

Speaking to CinePOP, Burg, who has served as producer on every movie in the Saw franchise, told fans to stick around for the post-credit scene, promising the return of some recognisable faces.

"At the end of this movie, stick around for the credits because there is a scene where we do bring back people from prior movies that you'll be very, very happy [about]," Burg explained. "You'll be very happy if you stick around to the end of the credits."

Set between the events of Saw and Saw II, Saw X aka Saw 10 will explore "the untold chapter of Jigsaw's most personal game".

Directed by Kevin Greutert, the latest instalment brings back Shawnee Smith as Amanda Young as well as Tobin Bell who is reprising his role as the Jigsaw killer John Kramer.

Teasing a future beyond the tenth movie, Burg said that should an eleventh film be made, fans will be seeing more of one returning character: "If this movie works, there'll definitely be more of Amanda."

Previously speaking with SFX Magazine, Saw X director Greutert, who also directed Saw VI and Saw 3D, teased some "dark shit".

"A lot of really, really bad, dark shit goes down in this story," Greutert said. "I have lots of books on medieval torture machines and other dark stuff, and sometimes we just pore through it and shoot ideas off each other.

"Some of the traps have evolved quite a lot from how they started. And then you have to think about how to actually pull it off. I was very nervous about some of the things that we did; nervous on a safety level and nervous thinking it was just going to look ridiculous."

Saw X will be released in cinemas on September 29.
