Sarasota County Schools remain closed as repairs, damage assessments are underway

As kids across the Tampa Bay area returned to the classroom on Monday, Sarasota County Schools sat silent. Schools remain closed Monday for students and teachers in hard-hit Sarasota County after Hurricane Ian. Crews are working to assess the damage and get repairs done as quickly as possible. “There are people with boats in the streets, so they had a lot more than we did, and my heart goes out to them,” Oak Park School teacher Diane Serpi said.
