Braving Europe’s heat wave, more than 150 Santas from around the world donned their heavy Santa suits at their annual conference in Denmark.

As the 61st World Santa Claus Congress kicked off in Copenhagen, many of the delegates — from countries as far away as Japan and the United States — took a dip in the sea, to the amusement of local bathers.

The three-day event will see the Santas visit the famed Little Mermaid statue during a parade and go head-to-head in the Santa Obstacle Course World Championships. (Reuters)

Incredible Plans Unveiled For ‘Stadium-Sized’ Inflatable Space Bases Where Astronauts Will Live On The Moon And Mars. Designs have been unveiled for inflatable space habitats the size of stadiums. The extraordinary expandable space stations are designed to be compact enough to fit inside rockets then dramatically expand once deployed in space. Space startup Max Space aims to send the habitats into orbit around Earth by 2026 aboard a SpaceX rocket. The bases offer a cost-effective alternative to the conventional "tin can" module designs, which typically involve smaller modules linked together. The company plans to launch a 700 cubic feet prototype in 2026, followed by a 3,531 cubic feet module in 2027 and a substantial 35,314 cubic feet module by 2030. Max Space claims that the habitats could float in orbit's micro-gravity or even be set up on Mars or on the Moon surfaces. Potential customers for these habitats include pharmaceutical companies, commercial space stations, and movie studios interested in filming in space. Max Space plans to launch a test module, about the size of two suitcases, which will expand to 700 cubic feet within two years.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday designated a pair of widely used industrial chemicals as hazardous substances under the country's Superfund program, accelerating a crackdown on toxic compounds known as "forever chemicals." The rule will require companies to report leaks of two of the most commonly used per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, and help pay to clean up existing contamination. The EPA last week announced its first drinking water standards to guard against PFAS pollution.
