Sacramento Zoo celebrating Independence Day with reduced ticket prices on holiday

This Fourth of July, Sacramentans can spend a day at the zoo for a bargain.

The Sacramento Zoo announced in a post to social media on Monday that all tickets will be reduced to $10 on the Monday holiday. Typically, tickets to the zoo range from $18 to $20 for general admission.

Tickets for Independence Day can be purchased online, or at the zoo’s gates while supplies last.

The zoo is open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Wildlife Lounge, where visitors can visit with docents and “Animal Ambassadors,” is open from 10 a.m. to noon.

“You never know who and what you might see at the Sacramento Zoo,” the zoo posted to social media. “Over the past two years the zoo has added several amazing species such as American alligator, squirrel monkey, cheetah, sloth, and most recently Galapagos tortoise.”

Last week, the zoo commemorated World Giraffe Day with the announcement that Shani, one of the Zoo’s Masai giraffes, is pregnant. The new calf is expected to arrive later this summer.
