Sacramento has seen triple-digit temperatures for nearly a week. Here’s when it will cool off
Temperatures are forecast to hit 105 degrees in the Sacramento area Monday, capping off a week of scorching heat that has rivaled a long-standing Sacramento record.
According to the National Weather Service’s Sacramento office, Monday is forecast to become the seventh consecutive day in which the city saw triple-digit temperatures. The all-time record for consecutive triple-digit days in June came in 1981, when the city saw nine.
But the heat wave is likely to subside before the record is broken. Tuesday’s high is still forecast at 100 degrees, but it will mark the beginning of a “gradual cooling trend,” according to the weather service. Temperatures will drop significantly later in the week, and highs are expected to be in the low 80s for the weekend.

For now, Sacramento and its surrounding areas are under a moderate heat risk. Cooling centers at three Sacramento County locations remain open through Monday.
The cooling centers are located at 1725 28th St. and at 2450 Florin Road in Sacramento, and at 5747 Watt Avenue in North Highlands.
️ It'll be another hot day for interior #NorCal. Widespread moderate heat risk is expected for the Valley and foothills. Continue to practice heat safety: stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day!
