Sacramento Kings’ preseason schedule features home-and-home set vs. Los Angeles Lakers

The Kings will play four preseason games in preparation for the 2022-23 NBA season, including a home-and-home set against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The team released its preseason schedule Wednesday. The Kings will play two home games at Golden 1 Center and two games on the road. This will give fans their first glimpses of a group featuring De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Davion Mitchell, Harrison Barnes, Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk and rookie first-round draft pick Keegan Murray.

The Kings will open preseason play against the Lakers on Oct. 3 at Crypto.com Arena. They will play host to the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 9 in Sacramento, visit the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 12 at Footprint Center and conclude the preseason at home against the Lakers on Oct. 14.

Murray, who came out of Iowa as the No. 4 pick in June’s NBA draft, will get his first opportunity to play with the likes of Fox and Sabonis. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward was named Las Vegas Summer League MVP.

The Lakers will feature stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis again this season. They will be highly motivated after failing to reach the playoffs in 2021-22.

The Blazers, who also missed the playoffs last season, are retooling their roster around Damian Lillard. They acquired Jerami Grant in a trade with the Detroit Pistons and selected Shaedon Sharpe with the No. 7 pick in the draft.

Phoenix is still seeking a championship with Chris Paul, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton after losing to the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2021 NBA Finals. The Suns went 64-18 to post the best record in the NBA last season, but they were eliminated with a seven-game series loss to the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference semifinals.
