Sacramento County house party shooting leaves boy dead; sheriff’s investigation under way

A boy was shot and killed at the scene of a house party early Saturday in Carmichael, according to authorities.

About 1:15 a.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received several separate calls regarding a shooting that occurred at an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Manzanita Avenue, Sgt. Rod Grassmann said.

The callers advised there was a large party and someone was lying on the ground after being shot, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies arrived and found a male juvenile that had at least one gunshot wound, Grassmann said. Metro Fire pronounced the boy dead at the scene.

Authorities do not have a suspect.

The identity of the boy will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
