Sacha Baron Cohen has set a unique record after Borat Subsequent Moviefilm's two Golden Globe wins.

The actor and his satirical sequel were among the winners at the virtual 2021 Golden Globes on Sunday evening (February 28), with Borat Subsequent Moviefilm landing the award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and Cohen himself picking up the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy gong.

Cohen previously picked up the same award in 2007 for Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, making him the first person to win the category twice with the same character. Very nice!

During his acceptance speeches, Cohen made jibes at former US president Donald Trump and the "all-white Hollywood Foreign Press". He also hinted that he was almost "shot twice" while filming the movie, thanking an anonymous bodyguard who stopped that from happening.

"Most thanks of all to my bodyguard, who stopped me from getting shot twice," he said.

"You know who you are, and you know I’m not allowed to say your name. But thank you." This follows Cohen recently stating that he won't play Borat again as the role is "too dangerous" — making it unlikely the actor will attempt the treble.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "For Borat, there were a couple of times I had to put on a bulletproof vest to go and shoot a scene, and you don't want to do that too many times in your life.

"I was pretty lucky to get out this time, so no, I'm not doing it again. I'm going to stay with the scripted stuff."

The comments follow Cohen previously revealing he only brought Borat back "because of Trump".
