Ryan Reynolds and Channing Tatum are reuniting for a brand new movie.

The actors previously starred in Free Guy together, as well as both having cameos in Bullet Train, and now Deadline reports that their newest collaboration has just been picked up by Warner Bros after a fierce bidding war.

Calamity Hustle is set to be a comedy action buddy cop movie, which will see Reynolds play a straight-laced cop, while Tatum plays his brother, who fell into a life of pretty crime. When the latter is implicated in a diamond heist, his brother must track him down before some less than savoury figures do.

The film is expected to be set in the festive season like Lethal Weapon. In fact, that film seems to be a blueprint for this one, with the producers hoping to turn it into a franchise.

Calamity Hustle will be written and directed by Adam and Aaron Nee, who previously worked with Tatum on The Lost City (the Sandra Bullock comedy which also starred Brad Pitt and Daniel Craig).

The duo have been attached to a LEGO movie and a Masters of the Universe revival, with the publication stating that they want to work on an original project rather than an existing IP. Similarly, the decision to pair with a traditional major studio over a streamer is cited by Deadline as part of a larger swing away from recent trends in Hollywood.

Earlier this year, Reynolds said that he wasn't so sure about making a Free Guy follow-up.

"There is the potential to do a sequel to Free Guy, which would be fun," he said. "I would love it. But also like, does everything f**king have to be a sequel? I don't know. Sometimes it's OK to just do a movie and have it kick ass and then everyone go home."
