The U.N. human rights chief said on Friday he was "horrified" by escalating violence near Sudan's al-Fashir and held discussions this week with commanders from both sides of the conflict, warning of a humanitarian disaster if the city is attacked. Traffic is building on a section of the M25 in Kent after a crash forced the closure of all anticlockwise lanes. As of 10.15am, cars were not moving along the section from J6 A22 (Godstone) to Clacket Lane Services in Kent. Several Tube lines also have delays on Friday morning while traffic is now moving again on the M25 after the QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing was closed.

A beloved Tesco’s in central London will be demolished and replaced with an office block and supermarket almost half the size under plans approved by Westminster City Council. Councillors said developers HECF Soho Limited had made “dramatic improvements” to the Dean Street and Soho Square scheme after refusing a similar design last year and voted unanimously to approve it during a planning meeting on Tuesday evening. Changes include carving out dedicated space for a supermarket to operate on ground level, lowering the height of the six-storey office block and keeping some of the original colour scheme.
