Argentina's president has ordered the country's withdrawal from the World Health Organization due to “profound differences” with the U.N. agency, a presidential spokesperson said Wednesday. President Javier Milei's decision echoes that of his ally, U.S. President Donald Trump, who began the process of pulling the United States out of WHO with an executive order on his first day back in office on Jan. 21. The families of the victims of the Nottingham attacks have said the killer should face a retrial on a murder charge. Findings from a new independent review published on Wednesday mean Valdo Calocane should be retried on the more serious charge, the families told Sarah-Jane Mee. Valdo Calocane, who had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order after killing 19-year-old students Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley-Kumar, and 65-year-old caretaker Ian Coates, before attempting to kill three other people in June 2023.

A former ice hockey player and TV extra has been jailed for 36 years for the rape and sexual abuse of seven girls, including one as young as 11. Philip Hamer, 34, of Worsley, Greater Manchester, was found guilty of 41 sexual offences carried out between 2010 and 2023, including eight counts of rape. Hamer, who the court heard had a "wholly distorted view of children as sexual objects", admitted 20 offences but denied others, claiming one victim was "wanton" and "sexually experienced".
